Sun Valley....a weekend away!

About a month and a half ago, Parker won the men's league championship in Burley. His prize was paid entrance fee to the "Tournament of Champions" this weekend in Sun Valley. We decided we'd leave Caleb with Grandma and Grandpa and have a weekend just the two of us.

I've lived in Idaho my whole life and I've never been to Sun Valley. Crazy huh? We stayed at the Sun Valley Lodge, and the weather was PERFECT! There was a very nice breeze, and very nice temperatures. The only down-side is that that thin mountain air doesn't provide much protection from the sun. My arms and legs got fried.















They put Parker in a group of 3 on the first day, so I was able to ride in the golf cart next to Parker. I actually enjoyed that quite a bit. And I was able to take lots of videos and pictures of my hubby. He didn't play as well as he would have liked, but it was nice just to get to walk around on that beautiful course. We saw lots of wildlife as well. SEVERAL deer, and we also saw a coyote. And then there was this magpie that snatched Parker's granola bar RIGHT out of the cart! I had to chase it down to get it back! And of course then we threw it away, because the bird had already pecked half the wrapper off. I couldn't believe that!

Last night we also hung out in Ketchum a little bit. We saw this cute enormous chair and so Parker took a picture of me. We saw this guy walk by, and we asked him to take a picture of us....but we should have known better than to ask someone who's drunk to take your picture. Needless to say it didn't turn out.

Last night we also went to a movie. We went and saw "Fame." I had gotten pretty excited about that movie, and it was quite entertaining. I liked watching all of the talent, but the movie was surprisingly devoid of a plot. Oh well, I was glad Parker came too. I know it wasn't exactly his thing.

All-in-all it was a nice weekend. We got to spend some good quality-time together, and enjoy some sights that both of us have never seen before. Now it's back to the grind, cuz I get to go back to work tomorrow. But we really enjoyed ourselves, and had a great time. We're glad we got to go.

Nothing....

I've been sitting here for-EVER with the computer on my lap. I feel so bad that I haven't updated my blog the way I used to. But ...... truly....... I got nothing.

As good as a raise....

Well, Caleb is pretty much potty trained. I say pretty much, because we're still working on night-time. He wears underwears during nap-time, but I haven't convinced myself to get up in the middle of the night just to take him potty, so he still wears a diaper at night. But still.....one diaper a day only adds up to.....well hardly anything. And here's the best part.... NO POOPY DIAPERS! Cuz the kid doesn't poop at night. So we don't have to throw away the smelly diapers outside anymore. It's so nice! Our goal is to have Caleb 100% out of diapers by the time the baby arrives. But not hiving to buy diapers anymore (cuz we still have a big box from the last time we got them), is almost as good as getting a raise! Grocery bill goes down! Only.....now we wanna start stalking up on newborn diapers, cuz you go through those things REALLY fast! (although I can hardly remember). Nevertheless....we'll be enjoying a diaper-free four months.

Next I guess I'd better announce that we had an ultrasound last Friday. And Parker decided he'd like to know the sex of the baby (he wasn't sure before) and so it's safe to tell all that we're having

A GIRL!!

And we're quite excited about it! I wanna start learning how to make those cute little head-band bows for baby girls, so if any of you have that particular hobby, and wanna share some information, I would really like to learn.....otherwise I'm gonna make a mess trying to figure it out. You'll have to forgive us for the poor picture. All the ultrasound pictures were bad, cuz I went to the bathroom before I went to the doctor....I kinda forgot about the full-bladder thing. As a result, the "it's a girl" prediction is not 100% for-sure. We could not confirm "girl" anatomy, however there was a definate absence of boy anatomy. So we're pretty darn sure. And I won't post the "it's a girl" picture, because it's truly a blurry mess, and I think this one is better.

Last weekend I went to "Time Out" for Women with my mom in Boise. She asked me to go, because my other sisters have little babies, and the thing lasts all day. And it was really awesome. It was a total spiritual boost, and I'm all ready to start being a better mother and wife. I really enjoyed all of the speakers, and the music by Hilary Weeks and Cherie Call. Allright, lastly I'm sorry I suck at blogging lately. Work keeps me busy, and I don't always have my camera cuz Caleb likes to take pictures when I don't know about it and drain the battery. But I'm gonna try to get better. I'm excited that the weather is changing and Fall is coming. Enjoy the mild weather before it turns cold people!

"Daddy shoot a deeeer!"

Well I hope you all can see this enough to do it justice....(at least the cell phone takes pictures...but I wish he'd had the CAMERA...or the video camera would've been even better). But yesterday Parker and his dad went for a drive in the mountains near Oakley. Yesterday was the first day of BOW season. And Parker's always said that the deer know when the first day of hunting (with a gun) season is...and they all disappear. But bow season is different, cuz it's so early and the deer just have no idea.

Parker only took bow-hunter's safety at the beginning of this year. And although he loves to shoot his square block, this deer is actually his first kill with a bow. And....HOLY COW THAT THING'S HUGE! He's so excited! I think he'd mount it on our wall if it wasn't so expensive....and if we had vaulted ceilings. And even though, I always hope and pray he WON'T bring home a deer (cuz lets be honest....that stuff tastes like grass), I am quite relieved that he got it on the first day of the season. Cuz now he's not gonna be ditching out on me every weekend for the rest of the season cuz he hasn't gotten one yet.

Congratulations Parker! Anyone wanna rent us a section of your freezer?....we'll pay you in steaks!.......just kidding.

Time FLIES!

Well, last week we had to put Caleb back in daycare for 2 days a week while Parker's at school. It's never been too huge of a deal, because he's always loved it. But this week, we're at a new daycare because we're in a new town. The first day, he was fine when I dropped him off. He went straight for the back room with all the toys. But I still cried as I drove away..... But then Thursday, I had to take him again....and this time he knew what was coming. And his chin quivered, and his eyes filled up with tears, and he wouldn't look at me in the eyes (he avoids eye contact when he's terribly emotional). And it BROKE MY HEART. He put his arms around my neck and didn't wanna let go. And I just wanted to take him back home where he blongs. But I had to go to work. When we tore him from me, he bawled. And I drove away crying AGAIN. It's never been this hard in the past. Thank goodness it's only twice a week. I hope it gets better, that's just brutal!

Secondly, my belly is growing....and there's definately no hiding that I'm pregnant....although my scrubbs have been doing a PRETTY good job till last week (I had my first patient ask me if I was pregnant.....! AUGH! That woman was BRAVE! What if I WASN'T?! I was BARELY showing through my scrubbs for pete's sake!) But as the weight in the front expands, my back begins to arch to distribute the weight. And THAT alone starts to take it's toll, as all of your back's weight starts to sit on those bottom vertebrae. OUCH! My back has been in serious pain for the past couple of days. And I honestly think it's worse when I'm standing than when I'm sitting. I think it's way easier to sit with good posture than to stand.....at least with a baby in front. I hope my back gets stronger before the pain gets worse.....I'm still not even half-way through this pregnancy yet!

We've already been in Twin Falls for 4 months, and I think this summer has flown by FASTER than any summer of my life! It's over! We've decided that with that 8,000 dollar tax credit the government is offering to first-time home buyers, we probably just can't pass up the chance to get into a house this year. So.....we're looking. It feels so un-real. It seems so grown-up to live in your own house. But after all.....I've been married for over 5 years, I've graduated from college, I've got a kid and another on the way..........I guess it's time for a house too. I just never thought it could actually happen for us! Well, like I said, we're just looking. But if we find something in our price-range we could have our own house for Christmas. Wouldn't that be amazing!

I watched a guy jump off a bridge!!

Last weekend Parker and I got to hang out together on Friday night (thanks Paul and Claudia). First we went to dinner in celebration of Parker's birthday at the "Outback Steakhouse." Now, I'm not a huge fan of steak, but we decided to add some king crab to Parker's plate....and then I just got soup and salad.

Can I just say that I had the best tasting soup of my LIFE that day?!! It was creamy onion soup. Don't ask me why that even sounded good at the time...but it did. And it was DELICIOUS! Even Parker thought it was amazing, and he was quite hesitant to try anything with "onion" in it. I asked the waitress for the recipe ..... who am I kidding. that information is like locked in a VAULT! I wonder if I should have offered to buy the recipe....I don't think it would've really made a difference though. I totally would have....it was so good. And lets not forget....king crab is ALWAYS good!! Especially if you eat it first when it's hot! YUMMY!

So after dinner, we went for a walk on the canyon ridge. And wouldn't you know it....we saw a couple of guys folding up their parachutes!! That's right! BASE JUMPING! We got to watch four people jump off that huge bridge! Welcome to Twin Falls! Did you know that bridge is like one of the only places in the U.S. where it's actually legal to jump?! Yeah....and people do it EVERY weekend. But this was the first time we actually got to watch. And YES, I did have my camera with me.

While we were waiting for the people to jump, we met a couple from California that was watching too. That lady was nice enough to take a couple of pictures of me and parker and then e-mail them to me! I didn't even ask her to! So here, for your viewing pleasure......base jumpers in Twin Falls.

Sooooo smart!

We've been using my free-weights as a door-stop in Caleb's room. (The door doesn't stay open.) Today Parker noticed that there was a third object holding the door open today.

The smaller one you see is the drill bit for Caleb's toy drill. It's also shaped and colored just like my free weights. So it should hold the door open too shouldn't it? What made us laugh, is.....we didn't see him do it. But he recognized the similarities, and put the three together. What a smart kid!
