Midnight Release Party

Allright, so I'm sure the whole world knows that last night was the release of the 4th and final book in the twilight series, "Breaking Dawn". My sisters, my mom, and myself decided to make it a girl's night and go to the release party. But before we did, we went to Red Lobster for dinner and then went to see the new Batman movie. Which, I have to add that I really liked it....however it was REALLY violent I thought......does anyone else think it should have been rated "R"? Hmm.....Not quite sure what I think about that cuz then I wouldn't have gone to see it. But I did like it....even though I watched half the movie from between my fingers. Anyway. The movie got out around 10:45 and so we then went to the bookstore for the midnight release party at Hastings to get our books.

Now.....the theme of the release party was, "Vampire Prom". And there were lots of girls dressed up. Even my sister, Melissa, couldn't resist putting on a pretty dress for the occasion...even though there were hardly any boys there. Oh well.....we're all married, the days of impressing are over right?......:) Anyway. Luckily, Mom and Anna got spots right in the front of the line, so when midnight hit.....we didn't even have to wait. We handed them our ticket (because we of course reserved our copies) and headed for the cashiers. I was actually the first person to buy a book in the store. That's kinda fun.

Below is a picture of Ashley and Kelsey Bailey. (Remember....the Baileys are the family that was living at my parents house for the past couple months....they moved out last weekend). Ashley (11 years old) has read Twilight SEVEN TIMES!!! So these girls were all dressed up and aren't they cute?!!

Here's Melissa in her pretty dress. We all laughed at her, but it really is a pretty dress. Hats off to you, Mel, for having the guts to dress up!
Oh P.S. ......the song on my playlist is from Stephenie Meyer's recently released playlist for "Breaking Dawn". As I said in an earlier blog....she picks out a song to go with every chapter of every book she's ever written. Pretty cool huh? Although I must warn you....she waited to release the playlist because it's been said that sometimes the playlists give away the contents of the book. So if you haven't read it yet (I haven't....I took the risk)....just beware if you're worried about spoilers. I didn't think it gave anything too serious away. You can find her playlist at: www.stepheniemeyer.com. Okay see ya!

A Weekend With Grandma & Grandpa Lyons

So on Caleb's birthday we went to Burley to spend the weekend with grandma & grandpa Lyons. The pictures are from Garrett's baseball game (the last one of the season).

This is uncle Garrett holding Caleb after his game.

it looks like parker and garrett are arguing in this picture but they're not. Just talking.

Parker was throwing Calrb in the air so high! Caleb thinks it's hilarious. And whenever he stops Caleb says, "again?"

Allright, so I have a few other things to write about in this post. Grandma and Grandpa Lyons gave Caleb a bike for his birthday!! He thinks it's great too. He still needs help riding it....he can't quite figure out how to push the pedals.....but I honestly don't think it'll take long.
Also some new news....Monday and Tuesday I started working. Let me tell you.....dental hygiene is a hard thing to do all day!! I can tell my body is outa shape, cuz after only two days of working I was WORN OUT! However, I am doing exactly what I wanted to. The office I'm working in has a LOT of root-planing and not very many prophys. So I feel like I'm actually using my skills. I get two hours for each half of the mouth....however the first appointment I also have to do full mouth x-rays and probing. And that usually takes an hour right there. So I usually get one hour for half the mouth, and two hours for the other half. I wonder if I can get them to even that out?....I'll have to ask. I've been using my own instruments, because I'm working for a dentist that just bought the practice, and the dentist before him didn't wanna spend any more money on a practice he's just gonna sell. So needless to say they're crap. So I'm using my own for now, and they've already ordered me some new ones. I'm really enjoying work though. I think as soon as my body gets back into shape, and used to sitting in those difficult positions every day, I won't be so worn out each day. I'm so gald I'm root-planing too! I gave six injections in one day! And then the one prophy I DID have that day, I was almost bored cuz there was no calculus. I finished almost twenty minutes early. I'll bet this all sounds like jibberish to lots of you, so I'll give no more details. But to my DH friends, it's really a dream job. The dentist put me entirely in charge of the hygiene program in the office. My first task: to get re-evals established. Can you believe they never did re-evals before?!! That's gotta change for sure. But it's nice, cuz I'm allowed and encouraged to make all the changes that I need to. I'm really excited to get to know all the patients. Except.....about half of them speak ONLY SPANISH!! YIKES! That's a bit of a problem. However the front-office girl said she'd interpret whenever I needed her. And so did the dentist. But I'm gonna have Parker teach me some stuff to say as well. OKAY i'm done talking about work. If you can't tell I'm excited! Sorry I haven't been posting as much, but if you haven't figured it out....I'm a working girl now!!

A Sad Day

Okay, I meant to make this post forever ago....but I've been kinda busy. Last Thursday was a very sad day. My heart was broken!! For all of you "So you think you can dance" fans, you'll know that last Thursday Will was eliminated from the competition. AMERICA WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??!!!!! So here's a video of one of my favorite dances of his. I can't believe you voted him off america!!! I honestly thought he was gonna win the whole thing. Now....I hope none of the other three boys win.....it'd better be one of the girls, cuz the other three guys are nothing compared to Will. Sorry, I sound obsessed, but I'm honestly just REALLY SAD. Out of the three girls that are left.....I honestly don't care who wins....I like Katie the best....but I don't care as long as it's not one of the guys. Cuz it shoulda been Will. Okay, there's my bit. Enjoy the video. :)

Birthday Videos

Caleb's Birthday

Today we celebrated Caleb's second birthday. All day he's been singing "happy birthday" to himself....but this is how he sings it:
"Happ-thee burr teee veee!" I'm not sure why he says "tv" I'm sure it's just cuz it's a word he recognizes. But we waited all day for Parker to get home from Girl's camp to celebrate the party. (Parker volunteered to be the priesthood leader at girls camp cuz they were so short on people). However, there is NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION up there, and they asked him to stay another day cuz the next person that was supposed to be there didn't come. So I had no way of knowing when he'd be home. So around six, Anna and her family, and Melissa and her family all came to celebrate the birthday, my friend from High School, Pat, came as well.......and Parker STILL wasn't home. I told everyone that if Parker didn't come home that we'd have to do the birthday another time because I know he'd never forgive me for having a party without him. So time came and went, and Anna finally had to take her family home. Just as Melissa was packing up her kids, Parker showed up. So we had a birthday party around eight thirty. The kids were so excited!! Caleb loved to hear everybody sing to him.Real quickly.... a word about the cake. Pink frosting for a boy you might ask? Well....lets just say that I forgot that red and white make pink. I thought, "Oh....red will look good with the yellow tractor" but I didn't realize it'd turn pink. I know.....ART 101, but I forgot. So yes, caleb had pink on his cake. Get over it.

Incase you couldn't tell, tractors was the theme of the birthday. Tractor on the cake, and TWO tractor presents. One big green John Deere from Grandma and Grandpa Harris, and one yellow Tonka truk from Parker and Me. And I also got Caleb this red wagon, cuz it was so cheap, and He absalutely LOVED it at the store. He just kept pushing it around.

And then....lets not forget the grand finale....BUZZ LIGHTYEAR! Caleb TOTALLY loved that! While Chase and Tyler were so excited about the tractors....although Caleb loved his tractors, it was nothing compared to how much he likes his buzz. He even gives him kisses he likes him so much. It's way cute.

So Here's Caleb in his red wagon holding his Buzz and saying, "CHEESE!!" He definately knows how to smile for the Camera. What a cutie!!! I can't believe my baby boy is two years old! Actually, technically his birthday isn't until tomorrow, but we celebrated today cuz we might go to Burley tomorrow. Then I know grandma and grandpa Lyons will also wanna give him a birthday party....which is fine by us! Caleb loves birthdays!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALEB!!
Okay, so I just needed to add another blirb about my working interview yesterday. I honestly think I made a fool of myself but they liked me anyway. They had a patient seceduled for me twenty minutes after I got there. And the instruments definately need replaced....however Dr. Weaver has just bought this practice, so I know he's got some things he wants to change. I'm just gonna give him a few (handfuls) of suggestions. But at the end of the day, they offered me a job with full health coverage, retirement, paid holidays, free dentistry (courtesy of Dr. Weaver...so generous), and I'll be working 3 days a week for a while, and then they're gonna bump it up to four in a few weeks. YAY!! I didn't give a direct answer cuz I had to talk to Parker first....however I'm planning on taking the job. I start Monday!! We're all pretty excited. My diploma also came in the mail when I got home that night. It's already hanging on my wall....I'm way too proud of that thing not to show it off. Well, this weekend is the 24th of july celebrations....as well as Caleb's OTHER birthday party....so you can expect pretty much a post a day for the rest of the weekend. Love you all!

No Roof + Rain = LEAKS!

Well here's some pictures of the fiasco at the Harris house today. Last weekend we got a buncha people to get out and tear the roof off the house so we could put on new shingles. My dad also wants to add a few things to the porch area, so they haven't started putting the shingles up. Well, the season of no rain had to come to an end, and this afternoon the rains came down and there were leaks EVERYWHERE in the house. The worst of which was the washroom. The archway between the washroom and the staircase was like a curtain of water. We had to put ice chests down to catch the water because bowls just weren't big enough.

This is a picture of the archway up close. You can't see much, but if you look along the base of the molding you can see these little glistening drops of water. This was taken AFTER the curtain of water. WHAT A MESS!!

Then of course there was the windows. Every window on the west side of the house had water coming in at the molding.

Then finally the basement. This was from a pipe that went straight outside. We hadn't bothered to seal it off yet, and it led straight into the basement where the kids play. There was one other leak that I didn't get a picture of. The southwest bedroom where the Bailey kids sleep (the family that's staying in the Harris Boarding House right now). There was water coming out of the LIGHT FIXTURE!! Yeah! It was running like a faucet right outa the light fixture in the ceiling. I didn't turn the lights on in that room. SCARY. So we put a bowl in there too. And lets not forget the window in there was also leaking, just like all of them on that side of the house. Always an adventure at the Harris house! The human mind is a funny thing, because my parents came home from work and covered the roof with tarps. But by the time they were done, the storm had passed and the damage was done. I guess the roof will be ready if it rains again though. (Heaven forbid that actually happening though....that's all we need is to wake up in the middle of the night with water dripping on our foreheads!!

My Little Sister

Okay, so this post is dedicated to my little sister, Jayne. She's actually Parker's little sister, but since I never got a little sister, she's as good as mine anyway. These pictures are from Christmas, but I realized, Jayne, that you've probably never seen them before. For those of you who don't know, Jayne lives in Hawaii and so she does not get to see her cute little nephew very much. Well, after my many complaints on this blog about our dead digital camera, Jayne decided that to go without pictures was not an option, because she just doesn't get to see Caleb enough. So the sweet girl got us a new camera. Jayne, that was such an awesome thing to do. I can't tell you how much we appreciate it. I promise to take lots of pictures of Caleb so that you will never have to miss a day of him growing up. You are truly the little sister I never had. We love you very much and can't wait to see you at the Cassia County Fair!
And here is the picture of the AWESOME camera that Jayne got for us. I still can't believe it! We just need to get a memory card and we'll be set to go. Don't worry, I plan on picking one up tomorrow.

For those of you who don't know, I got my dental hygiene license today. I don't have physical posession of it, but I called the state board of dentistry and asked them if it'd been issued yet because I have a working interview with a dentist in Nampa on Wednesday at 1:30. I'm REALLY nervous! I feel like I haven't done dental hygiene in forever! And I'm really worried I'm gonna be so slow they're gonna have to ask the patients to come back. Nah...I'll be fine. It's gonna be fun. I'll let you know how it goes!!
